The One Health-One Medicine Cardiovascular Symposium: From Cellular Physiology to Clinical Practice

10 Apr 2024 08:30 - 11 Apr 2024 16:15 - University of Surrey Daphne Jackson Road Guildford GU2 7AL

Organised by Dr Ioannis Smyrnias and Professor Kamalan Jeevaratnam, University of Surrey, UK

This meeting will enable discussions among world-leading human and veterinary cardiologists and researchers on the recent advances in cardiovascular sciences and translational cardiology.

The aim is to foster knowledge exchange between human and veterinary medicine to improve our understanding of the pathophysiological processes that underlie cardiovascular diseases in humans and animals.

Studying diseases that animals and humans share through integrated and multidisciplinary physiological approaches is a cornerstone of the One Health-One Medicine research strategy, which explores the ways in which the health of humans and animals are interconnected with their environment, as mutually influencing components of the same ecosystem.

This approach has the potential to lead to societal and economic benefits through the discovery of new targets from which novel and improved health interventions against cardiovascular diseases can be designed.
