Challenges and Solutions for Physiology Education

08 Apr 2025 08:00 - 09 Apr 2025 16:30 - University of Bristol Biomedical Sciences Building BRISTOL BS8 1TD

This year’s conference will focus on the following four themes that are current to physiology education but also higher education more broadly. We will however welcome submissions on any topics that relate to physiology education:
Developing Skills with a Focus on Transition to University
It is widely recognised that a good start to university life is key to students’ wellbeing and a feeling of belonging sets them on the road to success at university. How can we support post pandemic students, who have had a disrupted school life, to help them build their confidence in engaging with independent learning at university?
Authentic Assessment
What is authentic assessment in Physiology? It is increasingly clear that students follow diverse pathways both within and outside of traditional STEM careers. How can we assess students in a way that is relevant to their discipline and helps them develop skills that are relevant to a wide range of future careers?
Engaged Learning
How can we provide a learning environment and tasks that encourages student attendance and engagement through, for example, interactive activities and gamification?
AI Use and Abuse
There is no doubt that AI is here to stay and will inevitably become more powerful. How can we use AI to enhance our teaching and assessment, including its use by students, whilst maintaining academic integrity? A fundamental aim of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for academics to share best practice across the sector and generate ideas to implement in the future.
