The Biomedical Basis of Elite Performance 2024

This meeting follows in the practice of The Society hosting an exercise physiology focussed meeting in an Olympic or Commonwealth Games year.
In the tradition of previous successful meetings in this series, the 2024 conference will provide an overview of physiological responses to exercise in the context of human adaptation and performance, highlighting the central role that biomedical and clinical sciences are playing in directing understanding in this area. The programme will cover sessions focussed on injury and rehabilitation, altitude physiology, maximising muscle adaptation to exercise training, and the role of pharmacological interventions in modulating body composition and physiological function. As in previous years, a highlight of the meeting will be the delivery of a keynote address from an esteemed speaker presenting their personal perspective of a life-time in exercise science research.
